Important Dates

Register as a Candidate 

The nomination period begins on May 1, 2018 until Nomination Day on July 27, 2018.

You may file a nomination paper during normal business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., except on July 27, 2018 when nominations can only be submitted until 2 p.m.

*** According to the Municipal Elections Act contributions cannot be accepted, nor can spending occur, outside of the election campaign period.***

 

(VIEW REGISTERED CANDIDATES)

 

NEW Mayor and Councillor candidates must provide, along with the Nomination Paper, at least 25 declaration of endorsements from eligible electors. Forms will be available April 2018.

 

NEW Each candidate must provide proof of Canadian citizenship when filing the Nomination Paper.

 

Register as a Third Party Advertiser

NEW Third Party Advertisements (will be in effect April 1, 2018). Registrations accepted between Nomination Day, May 1, 2018, the first Friday before Voting Day, October 19, 2018. Further information will be posted soon.

 

Nomination Day

Friday, July 27, 2018, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Deadline: Nominations may only be filed between the hours of 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Nomination papers may also be withdrawn, in writing, prior to 2 p.m.

 

Election Day (Voting Day)

Monday, October 22, 2018

Voting places will be open from 10 a.m. and close promptly at 8 p.m.

 
 

Municipal Offices to be elected in 2018

Mayor

One (1) to be elected, at large within the City. Also serves as a member of Regional Council.

 

City Councillors

Eight (8) to be elected, two (2) from each of the four (4) municipal wards.

·       Ward 3

·       Ward 4

 

Regional Councillor

One (1) to be elected to represent the City of Port Colborne at the Niagara Region.

 
 

School Board Trustees to be elected in 2018

English Language Public District School Board

One (1) to be elected for the combined area of Port Colborne and Fort Erie.

 

English Language Catholic District School Board

One (1) to be elected for the combined area of Port Colborne, Fort Erie and Wainfleet.

 

French Language Public School Board (Conseil scolaire Viamonde)

One (1) to be elected for the combined area of Port Colborne, Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Pelham, Port Colborne, Thorold, Welland and Wainfleet.

 

French Language Catholic School Board (Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir)

One (1) to be elected for the combined area of Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Wainfleet, Pelham and Welland.
