Canal Days at the Museum

is your destination for marine displays and photographs as well as railway and ship models.  Enjoy the Great Lakes Model Boat Association’s remote control boat show in action and the Niagara Antique Power Association’s demonstrations from corn shucking to steam whistles. Watch artisans demonstrate their skills in blacksmithing, woodcarving, spinning, and rope ladder-making throughout the heritage village. The whole family can enjoy some toe-tapping live music under a canopy of shade. Travel back to the Middle Ages when you visit Blackthorn Productions Medieval Education & Entertainment. Floss and Tann’s Cabinet of Curiosity for the Incurably Curious are back by popular demand with all new bizarre and wonderful follies. If you’re looking for a truly unique souvenir, come by and have your tintype photo taken by Stephen Brule.  Satisfy your taste buds with food prepared by Mary Jane Smith from Riverside Berry Farm. Savour tea and freshly-baked biscuits in Arabella’s Edwardian Tea Room. Explore our exhibits in the main museum gallery. Solid Comfort- Tales of Tennessee: What does Port Colborne have in common with Tennessee? Visit this new exhibit as the fascinating history of the exclusive “Solid Comfort” summer cottage community is revealed through photographs and artifacts from the museum’s collection. Deadly Dust-Dominion: Grain Elevator Explosion 1919: Located at the southern terminus of the Welland Canal, the grain elevator played an important role in the movement of grain through the Great Lakes. This exhibit not only examines this role, but also the tragic fatal explosion that occurred 100 years ago.
